The accommodation at Porth y Dŵr includes a large open plan living area with underfloor heating and real fire, furnished with easy chairs, large dining table and six chairs. The snug offers a quiet reading area. Sliding folding doors lead to the small, sunny courtyard with patio table and chairs. Through the Gothic arch from the living area is the fitted kitchen, which also opens out into the courtyard. The kitchen contains an electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine, kettle, toaster and iron/ironing board, together with cookware, crockery and cutlery for six.
The first floor chamber is screened and curtained from the stairs, providing a large double bedroom with king-size bed, having its own en suite bathroom (bath and wash basin). An extra single bed can be provided in this room by prior arrangement and small additional charge; a cot is available on request (no charge).
Opening off the landing is the second bedroom with two single beds, and also the family bathroom with bath, shower, wash basin and WC, and a separate WC with wash basin and shaver point. Please be aware there are steps, sloping floors and low doorways on the landing and corridor to the bathroom.
A welcome pack will be waiting to help you settle in - tea and coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits. The open fire will be laid ready for you to light, with coal provided. Toiletries, bedding and towels are supplied, but please bring your own beach towels for swimming, outdoor activities, etc.
To the front of the house is a small garden with seating area; the herb garden contains a variety of herbs for you to use if you wish.
The award-winning restoration of Porth y Dŵr has been carried out carefully and sensitively using traditional and natural materials that have a minimal environmental impact, are breathable, safe (no or low VOC), and contribute to improved indoor air quality. For the comfort of guests, all bedding is hypoallergenic, and ecological cleaning products are provided.
Parking is available on two public long-stay car parks within 100 metres (current charges £3.50 per day 8.00am - 5.00pm).
Please note: due to the historic nature and construction of the building, there are steep stairs, low doorways and uneven floors. We would appreciate guests being mindful of the fragility of some parts of the building. Sorry, Porth y Dŵr may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility, and children may need to be supervised.
